“The temple bell stops, but I still hear the sound coming out of the flowers.”

Matsuo Basho, Japanese Poet

Origami, the ancient Japanese art of paper folding, recently took center stage at Educare International School with a captivating demonstration class by one of our visiting instructors. And believe us when we tell you that the students were mesmerized and enthralled by the brilliant and magical show. The quote at the beginning summarizes all our emotions after witnessing the event.

Origami, derived from the Japanese words “oru” (to fold) and “kami” (paper), is an age-old art form that has transcended generations. It involves transforming flat, square sheets of paper into mesmerizing sculptures and designs by employing precise folding techniques. Origami artists wield only their imagination, paper, and the power of their hands, creating wonders out of the most humble of materials.

The central objective of origami is to craft intricate designs, figures, or models using a single sheet of paper, without any cutting, gluing, or additional materials. As students fold the paper carefully, they develop patience, focus, and attention to detail. The process encourages problem-solving skills, spatial understanding, and hand-eye coordination. Beyond the technical aspects, origami also sparks creativity and self-expression, allowing students to give life to their artistic visions.

Here are some moments captured from the stunning event so that you can also feel the vibe.
