At Educare International School, learning often begins with a question—and sometimes, the simplest questions lead to the most fascinating discoveries. Our recent celebration of “Science in Daily Life” was one such experience, where students stepped into the world of experimentation to uncover the science hidden in everyday objects.

The school’s chemistry lab turned into a vibrant hub of curiosity and exploration as students engaged in hands-on activities using familiar, easily available materials. From observing color changes with organic indicators to witnessing simple yet striking chemical reactions, each experiment sparked wonder and excitement.

What made the experience truly meaningful was its relatability. Students worked with items they encounter in their daily lives—kitchen ingredients, natural extracts, and household substances—realizing that science is not confined to textbooks or laboratories, but exists all around them. A pinch of turmeric, a splash of lemon juice, or a drop of soap became gateways to understanding reactions, properties, and transformations.

Guided by their teachers, students explored how organic indicators change color in the presence of acids and bases, visually experiencing concepts that are often abstract when only read about. The joy of watching a solution shift hues or bubble with reaction created moments of genuine amazement—moments where learning felt alive.

Beyond observation, the activities encouraged inquiry. Why did the color change? What caused the reaction? What would happen if we altered a variable? These questions led students to think critically, hypothesize, and connect theory with practice—core aspects of scientific learning.

The atmosphere was one of engaged enthusiasm—students discussing, experimenting, and eagerly sharing their findings with peers. It was not just about performing experiments; it was about cultivating a mindset of curiosity, where every observation becomes a step toward deeper understanding.

Such experiences play a crucial role in building scientific temperament. They help students move beyond rote learning and towards exploration, analysis, and application. By linking science to everyday life, the subject becomes more accessible, meaningful, and enjoyable.

As the session concluded, it was evident that the true takeaway was not just the experiments performed, but the perspective gained—that science is everywhere, quietly shaping the world we interact with each day.

At Educare International School, we continue to nurture this spirit of inquiry, ensuring that our learners not only study science, but truly experience it.
